Moment-um is an active senior adult program that meets regularly on Mondays. This program is open to residents of Gilford and the surrounding communities.
PLEASE RSVP to the Gilford Parks and Recreation Department at least by the Thursday prior to each event (unless otherwise specified) by calling the office at 527-4722.
**While it is important that everyone call to RSVP for each program, it is equally important that everyone call to cancel if you know you will be unable to make it. We plan and shop for all of our programs, and when individuals just fail to show up, it costs our Department money and impacts our budget. So we ask that everyone please try to cooperate when it comes to your RSVP and/or your cancellation. THANK YOU!
October 10 – Fall Foliage Trip
We will be partnering with the Gilford Community Church’s Senior Outreach will be sponsoring a Senior Moment-um program on Wednesday, October 10th. Participants will meet at the Community Church at 8:15 a.m. before heading north aboard a coach bus to Cannon Mountain. Once at Cannon, we will ride the Tramway to the top of the mountain to enjoy the amazing scenery! Following Cannon, we will get back on the bus to ride to NH’s famous restaurant Polly’s Pancake Parlor. After eating, we will board our Coach Bus to enjoy the scenic trip back.
There is no fee for the bus and the cost of the Tramway ride is free for NH Residents over the age of 65 with a valid NH ID. For those who don’t qualify for the free Tramway ride, the cost is $18.00 per person. Participants will order off a limited menu at Polly’s Pancake Parlor and will be responsible for the cost of their own meal. Space on this trip is limited and participants must RSVP in advance and will be accepted on a first come basis.
October 15 – Bagels and a Blockbuster
We will meet at the Gilford Community Church, Fellowship Hall at 9:00 AM to enjoy some bagels and the blockbuster movie “Book Club,” a film about four friends who have their lives changed forever after reading “50 Shades of Grey” in their monthly book club. Starring Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen, Mary Steenburgen – and many others. This movie is guaranteed to make you laugh! For those who wish to have breakfast, we will be having bagels with yummy toppings at $2.00 per person. Coffee, tea, juice, and water will be available free of charge. October 22 – Blood Pressure Screening and Foot Clinic by the Lakes Region VNA
We will meet at the Gilford Community Church, Fellowship Hall at 11:30 AM. For those that are interested, there will be a blood pressure and foot clinic starting at that time, sponsored by the Lakes Region VNA. Coffee, tea, and water will be provided, and please feel free to bring your own lunch and/or snack. Please RSVP by Thursday, October 18.
October 26 (Friday) – Volunteers Needed!
We’re looking for some help with our Town Halloween Party for the children of Gilford, to be held from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM at the Gilford Middle School. We need volunteers to help run our entry tables, raffles, games, crafts and other fun activities. It is guaranteed to be a good time, not too strenuous - and it’s always great to see all the kids in their costumes!! Feel free to dress up yourself! Please give us a call by Wednesday, October 24 if you can give us a hand!
October 29 – Halloween Bingo and Appetizers
Come and join us for some fun and Halloween “Ha Ha’s”!!! We will meet at the Gilford Community Church, Fellowship Hall at 11:30 AM for appetizers and an afternoon of Bingo. We’ll have a mixture of “spook-tacular” prizes to be awarded to the winners. We’re asking those who attend to bring a small appetizer/snack to share with the group. We will provide coffee, tea, and water. We will also be serving a “scary and scrumptious” punch – drink it if you dare! And don’t forget to wear your orange!! Please RSVP by Thursday, October 25.
November 5 – Trip to Hobby Lobby and Pizza Hut
We’re going to try a road trip to Hobby Lobby and then on to Pizza Hut in Tilton! We will meet at the Gilford Town Hall at 10:00 AM to carpool to shop at Hobby Lobby in Tilton. The store carries a wide variety of arts and crafts materials, hobby supplies, fabric and home décor items, and holiday/party supplies. Then we will head to the nearby Pizza Hut to once again enjoy the Pizza Hut buffet!! The price of the buffet is $6.49 (not including drink cost and meal tax) and features a variety of fresh pizzas and a full salad/pasta bar. Please RSVP by Thursday, November 1.
November 12 - All Things Turkey!!!
Yes, we know Thanksgiving is coming, but you can never have enough turkey! We will be meeting at the Gilford Community Church, Fellowship Hall at 12:00 Noon to enjoy a delicious lunch of turkey pot pie and mashed potatoes. The cost for the lunch will be $4.00, and coffee, tea, and water will be provided free of charge. And then after we’ve “stuffed” our faces, we’ll enjoy a little “Turkey Trivia”! November 15 (Thursday) – Dinner and a Show: “Les Miserables”
Please join us as we watch the Gilford High School Performing Arts presentation of “Les Miserables.” This musical production is based on the 1862 novel by French poet and novelist Victor Hugo. As always, the talent and abilities of these young students is guaranteed to amaze and entertain you. Dinner will be served in the Gilford High School cafeteria at 5:00 PM, sponsored and provided by the GHS Interact Club. The show will immediately follow at 6:00 PM in the GHS auditorium. There is NO CHARGE for this program, but we ask that all those attending please bring a nonperishable food item (no glass bottles or jars) for the “GILFORD GOT LUNCH” program. Please join us once again on this little road trip to one of our popular local restaurants. We will visiting Patrick’s Pub & Eatery right here in Gilford. Meet us there for lunch when they open at 11:30 AM. We will be able to order right off the menu, so everyone will be responsible for the cost of their own lunch. Please RSVP by Tuesday, November 20.
